Discover the First Aid Features of a Smartwatch
One of the latest technological trends that are incredibly popular is smartwatches. Most of these smartwatches already come with a wide range of features. These include temperature sensors, heart rate monitors, among others. However, and even though these features are becoming more and more reliable every day, the truth is that we are always looking for more. After all, you want to ensure that you get all the paediatric first aid in case you need. Even though you may have some first aid courses completed, perhaps a Practical First Aid Course, the truth is that there is no such thing as too much help.

Some of the features that we would like to see included in smartwatches as well as on their associated apps include:
– The ability to detected that the pulse rate stopped or decreased severally and automatically display the Medical ID on the phone screen. However, this should only be done once the smartwatch detected that the user is really wearing it and that he didn’t take it off.
– The ability to display a graph with the recent hear rate. This way, you would be able to see how your pulse is behaving over time which can definitely help in an emergency situation. Along with this chart, it could be a space dedicated to displaying the temperature as well.
The reality is that we could go even further and keep on writing about so many different features that smartwatches and their respective apps could have. However, we also understand that technology needs to evolve a bit more.
But These Features Are Already Available For You
Yes, this is good news! Back in May, Apple launched it’s Apple Watch Series 4 and made these features a reality.
With the new Apple Watch Series 4, you now have:
#1: Real-Time Heart Monitoring And ECG Readings
With the Apple Watch Series 4, you can now have your own ECG reading directly in your watch or on your phone. According to the brand, they incorporated a new sensor. the Digital Crown that allows the watch to detect your heart in a more effective way.
One of the main advantages is that the Apple Watch Series 4 is now able to even show signs of Atrial Fibrillation as well as normal Sinus Rhythm. As you probably know, this is incredibly important for basic CPR first aid.
As usual, you will be able to get notifications that alert if you the watch notices any irregularities allowing you to get help faster.
#2: Emergency SOS Call With Fall Detection
This is another new feature that the Apple Watch Series 4 now includes. No matter if you like to hike and you suddenly fall or if you’re at home and you have an accident, your new smartwatch will ask you if you are ok. You will have 60 seconds to reply. In case you don’t, it will immediately make the emergency call for you.
The emergency SOS call feature will not only call the emergency services as it will also notify your emergency contacts. The app will be able to send out your current location as well as it will display the Medical ID badge on the screen.

While it is always important to know basic first aid, and paediatric first aid especially if you have kids, you also have many different CPR and first responder courses that you can take to help you in case an emergency comes up. Nevertheless, having your own Apple Watch Series 4 is definitely life-changing.
